Alan Chadwick
As the inspiration behind Ecotopia, we were able to re-plant ourselves in nature by virtue of what Chadwick transmitted.
Henry Thoreau
Thoreau articulated the idea that humans are part of nature and that we function best, as individuals and societies, when we are conscious of that fact.
Rachel Carson
Carson’s work exposed that DDT and other chemicals we were using to enhance agricultural productivity were poisoning our lakes, rivers, oceans, and ourselves.
John Muir
Muir founded the Sierra Club, the first major organization in the world dedicated to using and “preserving” wild nature.
John Burroughs
Known as the Hudson River naturalist and the father of the American nature essay, Burroughs became one of the most popular and respected authors of his time.
Aldo Leopold
Aldo Leopold was an American author, philosopher, naturalist, scientist, ecologist, forester, conservationist, and environmentalist.
